Dear wonderful reader,
Once again, I’m a week behind in posting this, but the holidays are certainly keeping me busy. For the past week, I was at sea (and mostly off-grid), which I’ll catch you up on in my next update.
We’re hurtling to Christmas now, but I’m finally getting the chance to sit down and write, and I should probably start thinking about reflecting on 2024 and planning my goals for the year ahead soon!
Let’s jump into the week that’s been…
Day 22 - Skin Check
In my quest to be more health-conscious, I had my skin checked today. While there was, thankfully, nothing of note, it’s good to know I’ve got a baseline recorded so I can monitor any changes in the future.
Day 23, 24 & 25 - A Weekend in Creswick
This weekend was delightful! I went with my family to a lovely regional town called Creswick, which is close to Ballarat. We played cards, went for walks and ate plenty of cheese.
I especially recommend visiting the La Gerche walking trail, which a forward-thinking dude planted in the late 1800s. It’s a relaxing walk through a vast variety of tree species.
I challenged myself to have a tech-free day on Saturday, which was fairly straightforward; however, I still relied on people around me for directions and weather updates, so I may have bent the rules a little to suit me 😂
I’d eventually love to do a tech-free day every Sunday. I also went to the Daylesford Farmers Market and had a lovely lunch at Cliffy’s - 5 stars!
To top off the weekend, I went to Love Actually: A Musical Parody at the Athenaeum Theatre in Melbourne, which was a hoot! While I still love this movie (I watched it yearly growing up), I’ve started to realise just how bonkers some of the plotlines are - I love it!
Day 26 - Relaxing & To-Do Lists
Honestly, in hindsight, I’m not even sure where today went. I had a long list of things to do before I went on holiday. I also visited the aged care facility where I volunteer and went for a walk with my buddy.
Day 27 - Graduation 👩🎓
It was a very special day, and it was actually my first in-person graduation (COVID meant I skipped my early 2020 undergraduate graduation). After 5 years, I’ve finally graduated with my Juris Doctor, and it was such a special day celebrating with those who supported me on the journey 🎉
Here’s to doing hard things!
Day 28 - All Aboard
Everything over the past four weeks has been leading up to today, the official start of nearly a month of holidays, before I start thinking about what comes next.
After looking forward to it for an entire year, I flew up to Sydney with my mum to go on Australia’s very first literary festival at sea. It’s cruising meets writers festival, and I just know it’s going to be fabulous.
I look forward to catching up at the end of week 5!
Until next week,
Kate
